Sunrise, Florida
Twenty minutes south of the arena and the mall, a small mat class in a barn where the loudest thing is your own breathing.
See the scheduleGetting here from Sunrise
Head south on Flamingo Road and stay on it — past Sunrise Boulevard, past I-595, past Griffin — and 4680 Volunteer Rd is about twenty minutes from most of the city. From the Sawgrass Mills side you can also drop down the Sawgrass Expressway to I-595 and pick up Flamingo there. Either way, you park on the property for free, steps from the barn.
Sunrise runs at volume — the biggest outlet mall in Florida, hockey nights at the arena, the Expressway humming past all of it. This is the counterweight — a wellness center, not a gym. Exercise classes are mat-based and capped small, held in a barn built from scratch inside a working bougainvillea nursery: vaulted white trusses, crystal chandeliers overhead, growing rows outside the door. Nobody queues, nothing beeps, and the instructor knows your name by the second visit.
We couldn't not say it: our outdoor fitness classes run on the lawn at first light, and yes, you should come to one. Drive down while the roads are empty, practise mat Pilates on the grass as the sky changes over the nursery, finish with guided breathwork, and be back north with a full workout behind you before most of your street is awake. In winter, when the bougainvillea is at peak colour, it's the best hour we offer.
